Providence Director, Philanthropy in Burbank, California

Description

Under the direction of the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO), the Director, Philanthropy will personally manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, working to maximize their philanthropic commitments to the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center Foundation through effective cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, organize, coordinate and direct fundraising efforts that focus on gifts of $25,000 and more from individuals, businesses, and foundations.

  • Communicate with portfolio prospects through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation and stewardship meetings, as well as written strategies; ensure that each major donor and prospect has a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship utilizing a moves management protocol which includes tracking in the donor database.

  • Create customized solicitation strategies based on strategic objectives of organization and interest of donors.

  • Initiate, maintain and grow donor relationships to maximize their long-term value and benefit to the Foundation.

  • Effectively coordinate the overall relationship management with donors.

  • Develops and revises, as appropriate, “case statements” for the major gifts initiatives.

  • In conjunction with the CPO establishes a personal annual fundraising goal.

  • Conducts research on potential individual, business and foundation funders.

  • Works with other staff within the Foundation on cultivating annual, major, and planned giving prospects and maintains appropriate personal relationships with current and potential donors in order to foster the purpose and the goals of the Foundation.

  • Attends and participates in fundraising events.

  • Provides 24 hour on call service for donors on a rotation basis.

  • Staffs committees as assigned.

  • Maintains professional growth and development.

  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, improving organization performance activities, and safety standards.

  • Attends meetings as required.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5 years of development fundraising including high-level donor solicitations.

  • Preferred upon hire: Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE)
