Providence Senior Wireless Network RF Engineer *Virtual* in Oregon

Description

Senior Wireless Network RF Engineer experienced in design, deployment, and optimization of enterprise wireless networks. This role supports mission critical clinical workflows, mobile medical devices, and secure staff communications in a high-availability environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Design, implement, and optimize enterprise Wireless LAN infrastructure to support clinical and operational needs in a healthcare environment

  • Lead advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of wireless client issues

  • Experience with packet captures and understanding of 802.11 protocols

  • Strong understanding of RF principles, signal propagation, modulation techniques, and network protocols

  • Manage and configure Cisco Catalyst Center for wireless planning, assurance, and automation

  • Deploy, maintain, and upgrade Cisco 9800 Series Wireless LAN Controllers for high availability

  • Be familiar with Cisco ISE for policy enforcement and access control

  • Configure and monitor Cisco Spaces for location-based services, asset tracking, and occupancy analysis

  • Implement and support 802.11u OpenRoaming to enable secure, seamless guest and carrier offload

  • Review, update, and ensure compliance with standards

  • Collaborate with clinical engineering, network services, facilities, and third-party vendors to align wireless services with healthcare operations

  • Perform wireless predictive RF planning, spectrum analysis, and site surveys leveraging industry standard tools

  • Evaluate emerging wireless technologies and provide strategic recommendations to improve network performance and scalability

  • Maintain documentation, diagrams, and change control records in accordance with ITIL best practices

  • Scripting and automation experience is a plus.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering -OR- a combination of equivalent education and experience

  • 5 or more years of related experience

  • Experience in automation, specifically related to deployment, recovery, or other manual processes

  • Experience with n-tier solutions

  • Experience with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis) and ability to simulate service outages for point solutions (automated) and platforms (manually)

  • Experience influencing software engineering team members in translating customer and technical requirements into service architecture to meet Quality of Service Expectations

  • Experience leading and representing the service in backlog discussions and standups to establish appropriate prioritization of Live Site requirements

  • Good experience leveraging data and metrics to drive behavior, process, and priority decisions. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions, or approaches to problems

  • Experience in problem solving using systematic procedures and investigating problems utilizing root cause analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years or more of related experience

  • Experience in a Healthcare environment

  • 5 or more years of RF principles, signal propagation, modulation techniques, and network protocols

  • Experience with packet captures and understanding of 802.11 protocols

  • Implement and support 802.11u OpenRoaming to enable secure, seamless guest and carrier offload

  • CWNP, CWNE, or CCNP, or CCIE Wireless certifications or equivalent knowledge and experience
